Land Acknowledgement
As an Indigenous co-owned organization, we at Orchid Rain respectfully acknowledge that we work and provide our services on the traditional territories of many Indigenous nations across Canada. We recognize that these lands have been stewarded by First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples since time immemorial.
Our Indigenous leadership brings deep cultural understanding and lived experience to our work, enriching our approach to trauma support and healing. This connection to Indigenous ways of knowing and being fundamentally shapes our practice and strengthens our commitment to serving all communities with cultural sensitivity and awareness.
As an organization focused on trauma support and healing, we deeply understand the intergenerational impacts of colonization and the ongoing trauma experienced by Indigenous communities. We acknowledge the historical and continuing injustices that Indigenous peoples face, and we commit to being active participants in the journey toward reconciliation.
This acknowledgement is more than words – it is a living commitment to:
Learning about and understanding the true history of these lands
Building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities
Incorporating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge in our approach to trauma healing
Supporting Indigenous-led initiatives and organizations
Continuously educating ourselves and our clients about Indigenous rights and experiences
Bridging Western and Indigenous approaches to healing and wellness
We recognize that land acknowledgements are just one small step in the larger journey of reconciliation. Through our Indigenous leadership and organizational commitments, we strive to be active participants in creating positive change and supporting healing within our communities.
